Referral programs are usually designed to maximise volume regardless of whether the referrer would have shared without the incentive. We did the opposite: a small, fair reward that says thanks without turning you into a salesperson.
The $20 credit covers a full month and gives you a real reason to share, but it doesn't push you to send the link to people who wouldn't actually benefit. Bad referrals are worse than no referrals — they fill the product with athletes who churn fast and degrade the community.
